Lightbulb Sound Ideas - Tips, Programs to use

Good afternoon everybody,

I know I haven't posted here very often, but I have been a long-time follower of the product since 2014.

Recently, somebody help me discover how to add custom sounds to the game. I just wanted to share some tips for anybody else who is curious as to where to start.

We have forms like this where people can find sounds, put together by others. But where do you go if you want to add your own or just build a nice solid sound collection?

Here are just a pair of tips for anybody curious about sounds:

1. Sounds for out of the park are usually saved in an ogg format. They are usually found in your data/sounds folder. It makes it very easy. If you have stadium-specific folders and the general sound folder.

--- I got the idea after hearing some examples of sounds pulled together by the community. This gives the game a fresh coat of paint for most of the common scenarios that happen in-game and allows you to come up with ideas as to "customize" your own soundscape for your experience.

2. Audio editing programs like audacity are ideal for creating sounds in the above format. They have a preset export setting that is automatically available.

3. --- Biggest Tip ---

When looking for sounds or audio, I would recommend gameplay videos from any of your favorite baseball games, the 2K series, The Show series, or any others in which you find the audio to your liking.

I am a fan of very clean audio that I can edit on my own --- as I have some experience doing such.

Longform gameplay videos are the best bet because they have the pace of the real game, you can extrapolate bat sounds, strike-out calls, home run calls, cheers, boos, and whatever else you might be looking for.

This is the technique I use for the general sound folder, finding team-specific sounds can be a little bit more difficult unless you go looking. Just wanted to share a little bit and spread the excitement.
